AirNZ – HR Portal

The Air New Zealand HR Portal is a go-to site for the company’s 13,000 employees and one of the most visited on its intranet.

The Problem
The portal was old and poorly designed. This creates a strain on the customer and HR, stretching resources and admin.

Processes
From the beginning, we took an Lean UX approach. To understand and define our customer we set up lots of user-research workshops, ideation sessions and user-testing prototypes. We needed to identify and understand what’s important to our customer and the HR team. It’s a delicate balance to strike, and one always kept transparently. Designing the User-Interface its best to take small steps and include stakeholders and team members, so they understand reason, functionality, brand, layout, templates and structure. This keeps timings and budget in check.

The team comprised of shareholders, developers, brand, copywriter, project manager and UX/UI. We all brought different strengths that challenged the product and process. It was an ambitious project for the team, but we made it work, collaborating in a hub and taking ownership. A strong team makes for great digital.
